The forest of Hardelot belongs to the main forest massifs of Pas-de-Calais. With its hilly terrain, this woodland is very popular with locals.
It covers 621 hectares, it is part of the 4 large forests of Boulogne, its altitude varies from 15 to 72 m.
The forest of Hardelot is an old royal forest became well from the State to the Revolution. Soil fertility and ocean climate make it an important regional hardwood production site.
It also shelters a great ecological diversity and completes the tourist offer of the littoral by its possibilities of relaxation and excursion.
The massif has been affected by Chalarose, an Ash disease that weakens trees and can cause them to fall. After a closure of several months to fell sick trees, the forest was reopened to the public on July 1, 2017.
A plantation program has been launched to give it a new lease of life.

La forêt domaniale d’Hardelot est une ancienne forêt royale devenue bien de l’Etat à la Révolution. La fertilité du sol et le climat océanique en font un important site de production de feuillus à l’échelle régionale.
Elle abrite également une grande diversité écologique et complète l’offre touristique du littoral par ses possibilités de détente et de randonnée.
Le massif a été touché par la Chalarose, une maladie du Frêne qui affaiblit les arbres et peut entraîner leur chute. Après une fermeture de plusieurs mois pour abattre les arbres malades, la forêt a été rouverte au public le 1er juillet 2017.
Un programme de plantations a été lancé pour lui donner un nouveau souffle.
