Botanical sub-collection consists mainly of herbaceous items of vascular plants, to a small extent the herbarium is represented by bryophytes. The collection also contains samples of wood, several pieces of cones and fruits, as well as a collection of hallets occurring on individual plant species. Fundamentals of the fund were herbaceous items A. Z. Hnízda and B. Vopravila.
Herbár Antonín Zbyšek Hnízda (1906-1973) contains, besides the collections from Tábor, also a number of items from Krkonoše and Podkrkonoší. The largest part of the herbarium is the collection of Jaroslav Kaisler (1913-1995), containing predominantly collections from the territory of the district of Tábor. Other collectors include Antonín Weidmann (1850-1915, collections from Trebon), Rudolf Kurk (1915-2000, collections from Trebon) and Dana Hradecká (predominantly collections from the district of Tábor).
