Le 23 février 1987, un Conseil Communal des Enfants est créé à Waremme, à l’instigation du nouveau bourgmestre Guy COEME. C’est une première en Belgique.
Le but de cette initiative est d’associer les jeunes à la vie de la cité et à la réflexion sur des sujets les concernant, de travailler leur éducation civique et de leur faire prendre conscience de la démocratie participative dans laquelle ils évoluent.
Op 23 februari 1987 werd een Gemeenteraad van kinderen in Waremme opgericht, op aandrang van de nieuwe burgemeester Guy COEME. Dit is een primeur in België.
Het doel van dit initiatief is om jongeren bij het leven van de stad te betrekken en na te denken over onderwerpen die hen aangaan, om te werken aan hun burgerschapsvorming en om hen bewust te maken van de participerende democratie waarin zij leven.
On February 23, 1987, a Communal Council of Children was created in Waremme, at the instigation of the new Mayor Guy COEME. This is a first in Belgium.
The aim of this initiative is to involve young people in the life of the city and to reflect on subjects that concern them, to work on their civic education and to make them aware of the participative democracy in which they live.
