The A92 road runs south from the city of Dundee over the Tay Road Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife where it becomes a single carriageway running through the rolling hills of the countryside in a south-westerly direction. Around five miles from the Fife end of the bridge, the road runs through the tiny village of Kilmany and around half a mile to the west, on the northern side of the road is a lay-by with a cemetery beyond.
It is set on a small triangle of grass between the road and a wood marking the site of the old railway line. There are around thirty gravestones, the majority near the entrance.
The cemetery is maintained by Fife Council and should not be confused with Kilmany Old Cemetery which is attached to the church in the village.
