This marker stands at the front of the Calhoun County Courthouse in downtown Hampton AR. The marker reads as follows:
"CALHOUN COUNTY IN THE CIVIL WAR
Though sparsely populated, Calhoun County raised five companies of soldiers for service in the Confederate Army: Company B, Sixth Arkansas Infantry, Companies E and G, Second Arkansas Cavalry, and Companies A and K, Fourth Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Henry G. Bunn of Calhoun County served in Company K of the Fourth Arkansas and became colonel of the regiment in late 1862. Colonel Bunn led his men through most of the great battles of the Army of Tennessee until the end of the war. Hampton Cemetery is the final resting place of several Civil War veterans.
