ANWB (visit link) has been placing information boards at monuments and tourist routes for around 35 years with the aim of introducing historic locations to not only visitors but also residents of the region.

ANWB Monument Plaque reads:

"MEPPELER TOWER
The church tower in Gothic style dates from the 2nd half of the 15th century. The profiled entrance gate is from 1540, the open dome from 1827. The clock by Arend van der Put dates from 1611.
The city weigh-house from 1617 was added to the church after 1796 and serves as a consistory room. The straight gable is crowned by a Louis XV ornament. The church, tower, and the weigh house can be visited."
