This Smokey looks to be abandoned and no longer providing fire danger information, judging by his poor condition and that of the rest of the sign. Most of the plastic on both sides has peeled away, revealing the plywood underneath. There is no forest nearby, but Oklahoma can certainly get extremely dry and prone to wildfires during the summer months.
