EN: The station of Kloten was opened in 1877. At that time it was probably in the south of the municipality, which has been enlarged since then. The station originally belonged to the Wettingen-Effretikon line of the Swiss National Railways (SNB), but it was already bankrupt in 1878 and was taken over by the Swiss North-East Railway (NOB). Since 1902 it belongs to the SBB. In 1925 this part of the line was electrified.

In 1980, the underground railway station of the airport Zürich was opened, which is also located in the municipality of Kloten. Since then, a considerable part of the railway traffic bypasses the Kloten train station through a tunnel. The station building of Kloten probably dates back to this time. It consists of two single-storey concrete buildings with a large canopy between them.

Today, the station is served by the S7 line between Winterthur and Zürich (and further to Rapperswil) every thirty minutes. Four regional bus lines connect the station to the surrounding area.
