Janssen Park has many items of historic interest, including a log cabin built in 1851, war memorials, and a clock tower erected in 1920.
Located next to the clock tower are two Mountain Howitzer, Model 1835 cannon. A bronze plaque nearby reads: "These two, 12 pound, bronze Mountain Howitzer, Model 1835, were donated by Congress to Janssen Park in 1915 through the efforts of Arkansas Congressman Otis T. Wingo. J.S. Kelly was the Park Commissioner."
Alongside each connon is a plaque indicating its manufacturer. Those plaques read:
"Cannon produced Feb. 16, 1863 by the Ames Manufacturing Company"
"Cannon produced June 29, 1849 by Cyrus Alger and Company"
A trip to this Park is well worth your while.
