An authentic sheepherder's wagon is located at the High Desert Museum. A nearby placard reads:
Home on the Range
Compact and cozy, the sheepherder's "mobile home" provided warmth in winter and shade in summer. Notice the canvas cover, Dutch door, bunk bed, cook stove and grub boxes.
In 1884, a sympathetic Wyoming blacksmith designed a sheepherder=s wagon like this one. It provided a welcomed change from sleeping on the ground and packing on a burro.
