Canada's National Holocaust Monument is located northeast of the intersection of Booth Street and the Sir John A Macdonald Parkway. The memorial was inaugurated in September 2017. The monument is the work of Team Lord of Toronto: Lord Cultural Resources, Studio Daniel Libeskind, Claude Cormier + Associés, Edward Burtynsky and Doris Bergen.
The monument includes six murals. There are information panels (in English and in French) for each of the murals. Thirteen bilingual plaques along one wall describe the Holocaust. The walk-through interior, which is not sheltered from the weather, is open only from 07h00 until 21h00. The exterior is illuminated in the evening. Seen from above, the shape of the monument resembles the Star of David.
Daytime photography is a challenge. The monument includes little colour. Shading in the murals is subtle.
