In Pekin, in the center of the city, is the Tazewell County Courthouse, which has several entrances with frieze designs around the entrance.
The courthouse is in a block bounded by Elizabeth Street, S Capitol Street, Court Street and S 4th Street. It has a light colored surface and is three stories tall. There is an entrance on the first floor on each side of the building. The one on the side facing Court Street is the one open to the public. Above the entrances are columns spanning the 2nd and 3rd floors. The doors are at the top of a flight of stairs. They are recessed from the wall, forming a small porch. Above is a form of a bird with a shield bearing the letter T. Below that, on the arch, are laurel and other work.
