A priest's house for St Peter's Church in the C16th. Then the Sun and Moon Inn was at the heart of Shaftesbury's market days for over 200 years.
Adjacent to the church is the former Priest's House (Sun & Moon Cottage), which is still part of the Gold Hill Museum building but is now housing a small shop. It still has a “squint” through the wall to St Peter’s church; the other provided basic lodgings for traders at the market on Gold Hill.
The plaque reads -
A priest's house for St Peter's Church in the C16th. Then the Sun and Moon Inn was at the heart of Shaftesbury's market days for over 200 years.
