The municipality houses one of the most imposing replicas of the Lourdes cave in the Region. Originally, the vow of an abbot during the Second World War
Before this cave, another well-known monument occupied the site: the keep of the castle, unfortunately destroyed in 1547.
During the Second World War, Abbé Chevalier vowed that, if his commune was spared by the catastrophes, it would erect a monument at the end of the conflict. This was done in spite of the death of three Balinghemois.
With the help of the families Dacquin, Ferrant and Picquet (thanked moreover on the monument), this replica of the cave Notre-Dame de Lourdes was inaugurated in July 1947.
Inside, in the reinforcement, there is an altar and a statue of the Virgin with the indication "the grateful parish 1939-1945". A white cross in a niche and a statue of Bernadette Soubirous kneeling complete the set.
The site was extensively rehabilitated in the 2000s thanks to the municipality which had bought a few years earlier.
Offices are always celebrated from time to time in the cave, the last one being held on July 14th.

La commune abrite l'une des plus imposantes répliques de la grotte de Lourdes dans la Région. A son origine, le voeu d'un abbé durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale
Avant cette grotte, un autre monument bien célèbre occupait le site : le donjon du château fort, malheureusement détruit en 1547.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'abbé Chevalier fit le voeu que, si sa commune était épargnée par les catastrophes, il érigerait un monument à la fin du conflit. Ce fut chose faite malgré le décès de trois Balinghemois.
Avec l'aide des familles Dacquin, Ferrant et Picquet (remerciées d'ailleurs sur le monument), cette réplique de la grotte Notre-Dame de Lourdes était inaugurée en juillet 1947.
A l'intérieur, dans le renforcement, on trouve un autel et une statue de la Vierge avec l'indication "la paroisse reconnaissante 1939-1945". Une croix blanche dans une niche et une statue de Bernadette Soubirous agenouillée complètent l'ensemble.
Le site a fait l'objet d'une grande réhabilitation dans les années 2000 grâce à la commune qui avait racheté quelques années auparavant les lieux.
Des offices sont toujours célébrées de temps en temps dans la grotte, le dernier ayant eu lieu le 14 juillet dernier.
