Rheinufer: Kirchengemeinde lässt eine traditionelle Holzkirche in Bonn errichten
Von Wolfgang Kirfel 21.06.17
"Bonn -

"Bonn -
It was constructed in the traditional style of the wooden churches from the region of Maramures in Romania, was built up, disassembled again and then transported by three trucks to Bonn to be put up in the final location at the Rhine promenade: The new church of the Roumanian-orthodox church municipality "Die Heiligen Stefan, Cassius und Florentius" is in many respects an unusual building. [...]
"From the outset was clear that a wooden church will be established", remembers priest Preda. The churches from Maramures are a national and international cultural heritage. „UNESCO has explained eight of them to the world cultural heritage.“ For the construction only the wood of oaks and firs is used according to the priest. „Many parts are served on draught, only in the roof area metal is used in the form of nails. “The church was built up by craftsmen who specially arrived from Romania and honourary assistants of the church municipality."
