Cet obusier motorisé M109 se trouve sur le boulevard Curé Labelle à Sainte-Thérèse, Québec.
De conception américaine, le M-109 a été mis en service en 1963. Plusieurs versions ont été élaborées au cours des années suivantes.
Le M-109A4 ici présent a été construit en 1985 et a servi à la base militaire de Shilo, Manitoba jusqu'en 1991. Il a été en fonction par la suite à la base de Lahr en Allemagne jusqu'en 1993. Ses années de service se sont terminées à la base de Petawawa, Ontario en 2002.
Depuis 2005, il est déclassé de l'inventaire militaire actif des Forces canadiennes. En mars 2012, l'honorable Peter McKay, ministre de la Défense Nationale du Canada, donnait son accord pour la conversion du M-109A4 en monument militaire à la filiale 208 de la Légion Canadienne.
La livraison officielle de ce monument s'est faite le 26 mars 2015.
Le M109 est l'obusier motorisé le plus répandu au monde. Sainte-Thérèse est l'un des rares endroits au Québec où on peut voir cette pièce d'artillerie.

This self propelled howitzer M109 is located on Curé-Labelle boulevard in Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec.
Designed by Americans, the M109 was commissioned in 1963. In the following years, several versions were developed.
This particular model (M109A4) was built in 1985 and it served at the military base in Shilo, Manitoba until 1991. Subsequently, until 1993, it was appointed to the Canadian Lahr base in Germany. Finally, it moved to Petawawa, Ontario where it was taken from service in 2002.
Since 2005, it has been downgraded from the active military inventory of the Canadian Forces.
In March 2012, the Honorable Peter McKay, Minister of National Defense of Canada, agreed to convert this M-109A4 into a military monument to Canadian Legion Branch 208.
The official delivery of this monument was made on March 26, 2015.
The M109 is the most popular motorized howitzer in the world. Sainte-Thérèse is one of the few places in Quebec where you can see this piece of artillery.
