This memorial stands out in a flat, treeless area of the cemetery. All the headstones surrounding it are laid in long rows of concrete bands. A U.S. flag is flying above the memorial.
The monument is constructed of large, roughly hewn blocks of sandstone, laid in a tapering wall. At the top is a bronze eagle with wings outspread. A bronze plaque on the face of the wall has the five seals of the branches of the military and reads:
This American bald
eagle is dedicated
to the memory of
the men and women
who by their
unselfish patriotism
have advanced the
American ideals
of liberty and the
universal brother-
hood of all people.
