The Bell Hotel was built in the 15th Century, it originally functioned as an Inn an over the years many a person and owner has passed through its doors. The Hotel has always had close associations with the church, in the past 6 centuries and religious beliefs in the town and the surrounding area, led to the formal naming of the Inn as the Bell, probably due to the many bell towers that have rang throughout Thetford area.
The most haunted room within the Bell Inn is the main suite bedroom, where guests of the Bell Hotel in have reported over the years sightings of a hooded figure, of that resembling of a monk. The ground floor of the hotel has also be connected the reported sightings of Elizabeth Radcliffe, who was the landlady of the Inn several years ago.
In addition to the above many other hauntings and odd activity has been reported, such reports include the uneasy feeling of being watched, sudden and notable smell of perfume, appearance of icy breath, and sounding of nearby footsteps."
