The Lynedoch Course is the newer and shorter of the two golf courses at Murrayshall Hotel. Opened in July 2000, it was designed by Hamilton J Stutt who also designed the older Murrayshall Course. The courses lie on the southern slope of Murrayshall Hill, near the western end of the Sidlaw Hills, two miles north-east of Perth.
The Lynedoch is higher up the hill from its older brother and the designer did a miraculous job fitting 18 holes into such a difficult site. The course climbs gradually through big pine trees eventually reaching near its highest point at the straight uphill 91 yard 11th hole. The next few holes, including the only two par fives at 12 and 14, stretch out along the higher reaches of the hill with extensive views north and west to the mountains, before the 90 foot drop from the 15th tee over heath and bracken to a sliver of fairway below. The remainder of the course then eases its way down to the hotel.
The course is only just over 5,000 yards long with a par of 69, but a buggy is probably required given the uphill terrain from greens to tees.
