Jared Welcome who does business under the name JareBear Carvings was commissioned by the town Public Works Department in August 2016 to transform a dead tree on the south side of East End Park. He created a tribute to the military by carving four different mascot animals, each representing a different branch of the military.
On the top a mule represents the army. Then a bulldog represents the Marines and a bear is the mascot of the Coast Guard. Lower down a goat is for the navy and a falcon represents the Air Force.
