More Information: When José Maria de Eça de Queiroz arrived in Leiria, in 1870, to take up the post of administrator of Leiria’s District, he found accommodation in the house of D. Isabel Jordão, at no. 13 of the Travessa da Tipografia (Printing Press Lane). He wrote here almost all of his collaboration with Ramalho Ortigão in “The Mystery of Sintra Road” and probably the first sketches of his first great novel "The Crime of Father Amaro”. In this novel the house is described as D. Augusta Caminha’s house, who was called Joaneira
