The first factory was built in 1813, which was replaced in its entirety in 1860. At this time the factory was refitted with new machinery and leased to the firm of Morse, Kaley and Company. When they completed their lease they purchased the building and made a large frame addition standing 3 stories high. Originally powered by water of the Souhegan River by a sluice way which extended the whole length of the lowest story with gates at the west end. In 1883 the power system was modernized by a steam engine to power the mill. The mill was sold to the American Thread Company of New York in 1901. During WWI the mill made jute linen, used for interlining army uniforms.
