U.S. Navy Benchmark - near Norfolk Impound yard

A naval benchmark set across the water from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. I guess the whole area was surveyed by them.

You can take I-464 south and exit Berkely st, make a right turn onto S. Main st and continue on until you cross under the interstate again. The Norfolk impound yard will be to the right almost immediatly. The benchmark is set into the sidewalk right there on the first corner (northeast) to which you come.

I found this one due to the fact that I have to go to the yard about once a week to look at vehicles that are recovered stolen. It took a while, but I finally noticed this little disk there.
