The nature reserve Wittmoor (Lower German for white bog) is located in the north of Hamburg in the districts of Duvenstedt and Lemsahl-Mellingstedt. The raised bog extends to Glashütte, a district of Norderstedt in Schleswig-Holstein. It was used up to 1958 for peat extraction, since 21 February 1978 it is designated as a nature reserve. On the embankment of the old Lorenbahn, a hiking trail leads through the rented and raised bog. Across the Wittmoor, early-history boulders led.
