This is a bridge across the Guadiana river conecting the Algarve in Portugal to the Andaluzia in Spain.
It was a major contribute to conect both countries.
Before it was open anyone wanting to cross the border had to use a Ferry conecting Vila Real de Santo António in Portugal to Ayamonte in Spain. This conection was always jammed and people traveling either way had to wait long time to cross. Now, and because of the European Union, you just cross the bridge without stop.
