Cet élégant petit pont en dos d'âne jeté sur le torrent du Jabron fut édifié en 1787, comme en atteste une délibération de la communauté de Trigance, bien que ses habitants le nomment "le petit pont romain". Il permettait alors de gagner la vallée par un diverticule du chemin qui menait de Rougon à Trigance via le lieu dit Carajuan.

Cette construction peut paraître tardive, mais il faut songer que cette communauté avait déjà la charge du pont de Trigance sur le chemin qui menait au villege, qui fut édifié en pierre à une période antérieure. Son entretient était déjà lourd.

Le pont de Sautet, d'importance moindre pour la circulation des habitants, est passée en second. On l'a bâti en un lieu resserré, au débouché des gorges du Jabron. Ses piles prennent ainsi appui sur des rochers des berges, ce qui dispense les constructeurs de les implanter sur pilotis, comme cela se fait ailleurs. Sans doute a t-il remplacé une passerelle de fortune, voire un tronc d'arbres grossièrement équarri tel que l'on en établissait auparavant.

This elegant little donkey bridge, built on the Jabron River, was built in 1787, as evidenced by a deliberation by the community of Trigance, although its inhabitants call it "the little Roman bridge."
