The Hugglescote Bear, unveiled November 2008. Commissioned and funded by the Hugglescote and Donington le Heath Forum supported by Mantle Arts, the bear was created by sculptor Thomas Kenrick, a stone sculpter based in Somerset, and is inspired by a legend involving a man, a bear and a coat which is supposed to explain how the village got its name!
The bear stands at the junction of Central and Fairfield Road to welcome people into the village or is that guard the people of the village from those who dare to enter?
