Die zur ersten Kölner Bundesgartenschau gebaute Kleinbahn im Rheinpark dreht seit 1957 auf der etwa zwei Kilometer langen Strecke ihre Runden. Von März bis Oktober fahren die Züge auf der schmalen Spur durch die bekannte Grünanlage in Köln Deutz.
An drei Haltestellen kann man jeweils Rund- oder Teilstrecken-Tickets kaufen und beliebig einsetzen. Fahrtunterbrechungen sind möglich. In der Regel kommen zwei klassische Westernzüge zum Einsatz. In besonderen Fällen oder zu ganz besonderen Ereignissen fährt eine historische Diema-Lokomotive oder eine der originalen Porsche-Lokomotiven.
Die Westernzüge haben jeweils fünf Wagen, die von Lokomotiven gezogen werden, welche amerikanischen Dampflokomotiven nachempfunden wurden. Beide wurden von der Firma Schwingel gebaut und werden heute mit einem Dieselmotor angetrieben. Die erste Westenlokomotive ist in den Farben Blau und Rot gehalten und wird seit 1972 im Kölner Rheinpark eingesetzt. Die zweite Western-Lokomotive ist in Gelb, Grün und Rot lackiert und wurde 1992 das erste Mal im Kölner Rheinpark eingesetzt.
The Miniature Railroad in the Rheinpark, which was built on the occasion of first Cologne National Garden Show, has been racing since 1957 on its approximately two-kilometer track. From March to October the trains run along the narrow track through the well-known green park in Cologne Deutz.
At three stops one can buy round and partial route tickets and use as desired. Interruptions are possible. As a rule, two classic Western pulls are used. In special cases or very special events, a historic Diema locomotive or one of the original Porsche locomotives are used.
The Western trains each have five wagons drawn by locomotives modeled on American steam locomotives. Both were built by the company Schwingel and today are driven by a diesel engine. The first west locomotive is in the colors blue and red and has been used since 1972 in the Cologne Rheinpark. The second western locomotive is painted in yellow, green and red, and was used in the Rheinpark in Cologne for the first time.
