County of equipment: St. Charles County
Location of ornament: Foristell Rd., about half way between Foristell & New Melle

With five shovels, this cultivator would have been drawn by a single horse, mule or ox while the operator walked behind guiding and wrestling his unwieldy implement. It would have found use, to weed already planted fields of possibly potatoes, corn, or any rowed plants; even in an orchard. Several coats of paint have now obscured any indication of manufacture and it is back on private property, and I do not trespass. It is completely visible from the road.
