The hill of Calvaire marks the site of the castle of the Count of Auvergne, Guy II (died in 1224), which gave its name to the commune (Châtel-Guyon means by deformation "castle of Guy II").
At the summit of Calvary, there is an orientation table enamelled on lava where one can see the elements of the landscape on 360 °.
On the table there is the following inscription:

La colline du Calvaire marque l'emplacement du château fort du comte d'Auvergne, Guy II (mort en 1224), qui a donné son nom à la commune (Châtel-Guyon signifie par déformation «château de Guy II») .
Au sommet du Calvaire, il y a une table d'orientation émaillé sur lave où on peut voir les éléments du paysage sur 360 °.
Sur la table, il y a l'inscription suivante :
