[DE] "Der Alte Zoll, auch Dreikönigenbastion genannt, in Bonn ist eine ehemalige Bastion der Bonner Stadtbefestigung. Er wurde etwa 1644 errichtet und liegt am Ufer des Rheins.(Zurzeit wegen aufwändiger Sicherungsmaßnahmen und Instandsetzungsarbeiten an Untergrund und Mauerwerk eingerüstet. Dauer der Arbeiten voraussichtlich bis Mitte 2016.) Der Alte Zoll gehört der Universität Bonn.
Der Alte Zoll liegt im Ortsteil Bonn-Zentrum am Brassertufer unterhalb des Hofgartens und des Ostflügels des Kurfürstlichen Schlosses, dem heutigen Uni–Hauptgebäude. In der Nähe befinden sich die Schiffsanlegestellen der Köln-Düsseldorfer und Bonner Personen Schiffahrt, direkt südlich das Hotel Königshof und das Collegium Albertinum, unweit nördlich das Opernhaus.
Der Alte Zoll ist ein bis auf 15 m aufragender „halber“ Bastionsbau (Eckbastion) mit 150 m Umfang auf einer Grundfläche von etwa 1.000 m2. Die um 80° geneigte südliche Face ist mit Ziegeln, Trachyt und Basaltsäulen-Zwischenlagen aus Unkel vollbekleidet, man spricht von einer Escarpe mit umlaufendem Cordon (ein Bauzierteil) und Brustwehr in italienischer Bauart. Zwei Kanonen lenken auf der etwa 0,122 ha großen Fläche den Blick in Richtung Rhein- und Siebengebirgslandschaft. Diese beiden in den Jahren 1803 und 1841 gegossenen französischen Salutkanonen waren ein Geschenk von Kaiser Wilhelm I. nach dem Sieg von 1871 an die Universität Bonn, die sie daraufhin auf der Bastion aufstellen ließ – aus ihnen ist nie ein scharfer Schuss abgegeben worden. „Im Inneren wird das Bauwerk von einem vier Meter breiten und ebenso hohen Gewölbegang in nordsüdlicher Richtung durchzogen. Die aus jüngster Zeit stammenden Einbauten innerhalb dieses Gewölbegangs dienten im Zweiten Weltkrieg als Luftschutzbunker.“
Der Alte Zoll steht als Baudenkmal unter Denkmalschutz.
Der Alte Zoll bildete den linksrheinischen Uferabschluss im Süden der ehemaligen Haupt- und Landesfestung Kurkölns. Die erste gesicherte Erwähnung im Urplan der Festungsanlage stammt von 1644. Als „Schlossterrasse“ im barocken Gesamtkonzept des 18. Jahrhunderts war der „Alte Zoll“ als friedlicher Aussichtspunkt und Gegenstand von Reiseliteratur und romantisch-gefühlsbetonter Malerei beliebt. Am 27. Juli 1815 bemerkte Johann Wolfgang von Goethe zur Rheinansicht, „daß man sich eines Versuchs, sie mit Worten zu beschreiben, kaum enthalten kann“."

The Alte Zoll belongs to the University of Bonn.
The Alte Zoll is located in the district of Bonn-Zentrum on the Brassertufer below the Hofgarten and the east wing of the Electoral Palace, today's university main building. Close by are the ship mooring points of the Köln-Düsseldorfer and Bonner Personenschiffahrt, directly to the south the Hotel Königshof and the Collegium Albertinum, not far from the opera house.
The "Alte Zoll" is a "Bastionbau" (corner bastion) towering up to 15 m, with a 150 m circumference on a surface area of ??approximately 1,000 m2. The southern face, which is inclined at 80 °, is full of bricks, trachytes, and basal column interpolations from Unkel. It is called an escarpe with a surrounding cordon (a building ornament) and an Italian-style breast-collar. Two cannons draw a view of the Rhine and Siebengebirgslandschaft on the approximately 0,122 ha large surface. These two French Salutons, cast in 1803 and 1841, were a gift from Emperor William I after the victory of 1871 to the University of Bonn, which they then set up on the bastion-never a sharp shot from them.
