I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1940 in good condition. The concrete post this disk is monumented on top of projects at least 1 foot above the ground and is very visible from the highway which is a good thing because the NGS datasheet description is obsolete. All site references in the description no longer exist. This benchmark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4139'. The NGS coordinates are adequate for station recovery.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 8.3 MI SE FROM STRONGHOLD. 5.3 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC CO. RAILROAD FROM THE FLAG STATION AT STRONGHOLD, MODOC COUNTY, THENCE 3.0 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG THE CANBY-KLAMATH FALLS HIGHWAY, 115 FEET SOUTH OF CONCRETE CULVERT 2008+80, 50 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 9 FEET WEST OF A ROW OF POLES, AND AT A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED D 602 1940 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.
