I recovered this National Geodetic Survey vertical control disk from 1990 in good condition. An orange carsonite witness post and a white reflector post near the disk aid in station recovery. The NGS posted coordinates and the datasheet description are adequate for station recovery.

DESCRIBED BY CALTRANS 1990 6.1 MILES (9.8 KM) SOUTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 139 FROM STRONGHOLD TO THE INTERSECTION WITH COUNTY ROAD 114, OLD ALTURAS HIGHWAY, THENCE CONTINUING SOUTHERLY ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 139 FOR 1.1 MILES, MARK IS 64 FEET (19.5 M) EASTERLY FROM CENTERLINE OF HIGHWAY, AND 2 FEET (0.6 M) WESTERLY FROM FENCE, FROM THE MARK, A ROCK JACK IN FENCE RUNNING ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BEARS N 82 DEG E, 341 FEET, AND A TELEPHONE POLE WITH BRACE BEARS N 70 DEG W, 113.5 FEET.
