"These CA-1 dozers were made by the Clark Equipment Company in Battle Creek Michigan. 2500 were made during W.W.II for the War Department. They were either parachuted or flown in on gliders to remote areas for construction work." [1]

"They are very small with the tracks being only three feet apart. The engine is a 4 cylinder water cooled Waukesha Model FC."[1] It was the heaviest load carried by the WACO glider. this example is on display at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, NC.
"The Clarkair Crawler Model CA-1 is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine and has a hydraulic bulldozer attachment for earthmoving. The air transportable CA-1 tractor/dozer with Braden winch was developed by Clark Equipment Co. who built the prototype and manufactured 13 of the Airborne Tractors. The Cleveland Tractor Co. built about 145 more. and approximately 1.100 were built by Clark Equipment Co. and American Machine and Metals Inc. for the US Army during WW II."[2]
