The Wedgwood Museum has one of the most interesting ceramic collections in the world. Their galleries tell the story of Josiah Wedgwood, his family, and the company he founded two-and-a-half centuries ago. It was winner of the Art Fund Prize in 2009. On December 23rd, 2014, the Museum shut its doors as part of a major redevelopment of the Wedgwood Estate, and reopened in 2015 as a part of the wider World of Wedgwood attraction.

The first museum was opened in 1906, and Wedgwood was amongst the first ceramic manufacturers to have it on a permanent site. It was on display for the public at the factory in Eturia until the outbreak of World War II when, like many other collections, it was packed away for safekeeping.

The museum is family friendly with interactives designed to engage everyone - from the smallest of toddlers to those that are simply young at heart. Food is available at the Dining Hall.

The Museum is fully accessible for wheelchair users, there are wheelchairs available to hire, and wheelchair accessible toilets.
There is a loop system for the hard of hearing.
Guide dogs welcome. Other dogs are not allowed in the museum but are allowed on the estate provided they are on a lead.

Special admission rates are offered for groups of 12 or more.

Discovery Days
Discover more about Wedgwood and the Museum with an illustrated talk of your choice, a guided gallery tour, handling session and a look at our archives. Perfect for any groups with a keen interest in the decorative and fine arts. £15 per person (including tea and coffee on arrival).

A visit to the museum could also be combined with a trip to the World of Wedgwood, a Factory Tour and shops.

Factory Tour.
The tour offers an in depth view of all aspects of quality ceramic production including casting, figure making, pattern decorating and hand painting, ornamentation and gilding. Iconic Jasper pieces can be seen in production showcasing the pinnacle of ceramic craftsmanship.
Self-guided and guided Factory Tours are offered. Guided tours are available at regular intervals on a first come, first served basis, allocated on arrival. Guided tours last approximately 1 hour and the last admission to the tour is 3pm daily.

Production at the factory is reduced at weekends and during factory shutdown periods so the number of workers that might be seen on the tour route will be limited. Whilst you can still learn all about production and experience the factory environment, they would recommend that you take a tour with one of their knowledgeable guides when available.
