At 9th and Main in downtown Collins stands the Veterans Building. It is a concrete block building, constructed in 1946. In 2010, citizens of Collinsville began soliciting for donations to renovate the building to its original condition. This link is to that project website, and shows a photo of the building as it originally stood. (

The building is home to VFW Joe Keith Post No. 3077 and the American Legion John Daniels Post No. 2. The building is also used by the community during the Tri County Fair and for distribution of Cherokee commodities. Many other events are held here, including meetings, dinners, fund raisers, theatrical events, bridal & baby showers, anniversary celebrations, the Tea for the senior girls, square dances, and many other events.
This is a one-story concrete block building with brick veneer - tan brick on the front and red brick on the sides. An eleven-step pediment decorates the front roof line. The front entrance has double, aluminum and glass doors, flanked by double, multi-paned windows with concrete lintels. Six multi-paned windows are along each side of the building.
