This outlook tower is on top of the Hochsimmer, a former vulcano near Ettringen. It has been build between 1909 and 1911. It was renewed in 1924, 1950 and 1970 After the earthquake 1992, the damage of the tower was too heavy and it must have been closed. It was renewed in 1994 at costs of 300.000DM (approx €150.000).
The height of the tower is about 18m. It is made from stone and has a staircase inside. Together with the elevation of 588m of the Hochsimmer the level of 606m presents a great scenic view the Hohe Acht, Nürburg, Westerwald, Hunsrück and if the conditions are excellent, to the Cathedral of Cologne.
