"Der See befindet sich im Südwesten von Köln, etwa 15 Kilometer von der Stadtgrenze entfernt vor dem Erftstädter Stadtteil Liblar. Unmittelbar daran vorbei führt die Bundesstraße 265, die Luxemburger Straße.
Beim Liblarer See handelt es sich um einen der größten Seen der Ville-Seenplatte im Südrevier der Ville. Wie fast alle diese Seen ist auch der Liblarer See das mit Wasser gefüllte Restloch eines ehemaligen Braunkohletagebaus, der Grube Liblar. Hier wurde von 1900 bis 1961 Braunkohle abgebaut."

Lake Libl is one of the largest lakes of the Ville Lake District in the southern quarter of the Ville. Like almost all of these lakes, the Liblian Lake is also the resting hole of a former Braunkohletage building, the Liblar mine, filled with water. Here, brown coal was mined from 1900 to 1961. "
