The small square off tthe southwest corner of Place du Trocadero celebrates the great victory which made the independence of the United States possible and forced the British to give up their thirteen colonies in America.
On the square stands a statue of Benjamin Franklin offered to the city of Paris by John H. Harpes. The bas-reliefs by F. Brou show Franklin being presented to the Court of Louis XVI at Versailles and the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
