[EN] "The Annasäule is located in Innsbruck's Maria-Theresien-Straße.
It was named after the Annatag (July 26th), in which the last Bavarian troops invaded in the course of the Spanish War of Succession in Tyrol were expelled. In 1704 the provinces praised the erection of a monument.
This was created by the Trentino sculptor Cristoforo Benedetti from red junkyard marble. On the base are four sacred statues:
In the north St. Anne, the mother of Mary.
In the west Kassian, the patron of the diocese of Brixen.
In the east Vigilius, patron of the diocese of Trento.
In the south Georg with kite and lance, then again and since 2006 again Landespatron (now beside the St. Joseph).
These four are exaggerated by the column with the statue of the Crescent Moon.
On July 26, 1706 the monument was blessed by Brixner Prince Bishop Kaspar Ignaz Graf Künigl. It has been restored several times over the centuries. In 1958 the statue of the Virgin was replaced by a copy, mainly for conservative reasons, and the original was handed over as a loan to the Abbey of St. Georgenberg-Fiecht, where it is placed above the Marienaltar in a side chapel of the Stiftskirche Fiecht (near Schwaz).
On October 10, 2009, the sacred figures were also replaced at the base of the monument. Originals of the sacred figures are now on the first floor of the old country house in Innsbruck. "
