The Stiefel is a red sandstone rock naturally shaped like a boot.
It is one of the symbols of the Saarland State.
Issued during the post-WW II Saar Protectorate era (1947-1956) and denomination in Saar-Franken (eqal to French Francs).
This stamp (Ref.: MiNr. 286) was issued in 1951 as part of a stamp series: 'Pictures from industries, economy, agriculture and culture (so called 'Saar IV' series). Valid until 6/30/1957.
