The fourteen flags fly at the southern end of the Portage Bridge, a bridge that connects Canada's first provinces: Québec (Lower Canada) and Ontario (Upper Canada). Following the St. Lawrence River, Ontario is upstream from Québec.
The fourteen flags fly along the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (also known as the Ottawa River Parkway), beside the Trans Canada Trail, not far from the Trans Canada Trail pavilion for Ottawa.
Viewing the flagpoles from west to east, there are three territorial flags, ten provincial flags and the flag of Canada: Nunvaut, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Québec, Ontario and Canada. Posted co-ordinates are for the flag of Canada.
