In 1941 the cowboys of the P-Bar ranch constructed this dam to provide water for the ranch and their cows. The P-Bar ranch included areas that now comprise Fountain Hills, the McDowell Mountain Regional Park and parts of Scottsdale. The dam is located in area that is now the Fountain Hills Desert Botanical Garden. The sign was posted in 2013.
