An einer der windreichsten Stellen der Insel oberhalb der Costa Calma ist in den letzten Jahren ein Windpark entstanden.
Hier, wo die Insel nur 6 km breit ist, liegt die Windgeschwindigkeit bei einem Jahresmittel von mehr als 7m/s (was in Deutschland nur auf den äußersten Inseln erreicht wird).
Die von der Verwaltung der Kanaren herausgegebenen Zahlen (1996) besagen, daß insgesamt 45 Windkraftanlagen installiert sind:
27 Maschinen von je 180 KW Leistung (el.)
18 Maschinen von je 300 KW Leistung (el.)
Die installierte (maximale) el. Gesamtleistung beträgt damit 10,26 MW.
Einer ersten Messung 1993/94 zufolge wurden in einem Jahr 19.1 GWh Strom produziert. Hiervon entfielen allein 7.4 GWh auf die klimatisch bedingt windreichsten Monate Juli und August.Angestrebt werden im Endausbau 28 GWh/a, was etwa 14% des Bedarfs an elektrischer Energie auf Fuerteventura decken würde.
Jede Maschine besitzt einen Dreiblattrotor, der einen Durchmesser von 23m (180KW) bzw. 30m (300KW) bildet.
Die Höhe der Anlagen betragen 28m bzw. 31m.
Fuerteventura: Der Windpark
Die Windgeschwindigkeit darf zwischen 3, 5 m/s und 28 m/s liegen.Die Betreiber sind das Consorcio de Aguas de Fuerteventura mit 60% und die Unión Eléctrica de Canarias (UNELCO) mit 40% Besitzanteil.
Die Gesamtinvestitionssumme betrug 1.650 Millionen Peseten (10,5 Mio Euro).

In one of the windiest parts of the island above the Costa Calma, a wind farm has been built in recent years.
Here, where the island is only 6 km wide, the wind speed is at an annual average of more than 7 m / s (which in Germany is reached only on the outermost islands).
The figures published by the Administration of the Canaries (1996) show that a total of 45 wind turbines are installed:
27 machines of 180 kW power (el.)

According to a first measurement in 1993/94, 19.1 GWh of electricity were produced in one year. 7.4 GWh alone accounted for 7.4 GWh of the climatically windiest months of July and August. In the final stage of development, 28 GWh / a, which would cover about 14% of the demand for electrical energy on Fuerteventura.
Each machine has a three-blade rotor, which has a diameter of 23m (180KW) and 30m (300KW).
The height of the installations is 28m and 31m respectively.
