The Spring Valley Wind Project is Nevada’s first utility-scale wind energy project, located approximately 30 miles east of Ely, Nevada. In 2012, the Pattern Energy Group LP built the Spring Valley Wind project, which includes 66 Siemens 2.3 megawatt wind turbines, 151.8 megawats. The project is covers on 7,673 acres of public lands, however, its permanent footprint will only be about 77 acres of surface area, or about 1 percent of the total project area.
