"Peter Dusch und Alfred Jülich gelang dieser Schritt mit der Gründung eines eigenen Unternehmens im Jahre 1977. In ihrer Freizeit restaurierten die beiden Herren antike Möbel und boten ihre Ware auf Flöhmärkten an. Es lief schließlich so gut, daß die Arbeit nicht mehr in der Freizeit bewältigt werden konnte. So kam es zur Gründung des Antiquitätengeschäfts und Antiquariats. In den Anfangsjahren lagen die Geschäftsräume in einem malerischen Hinterhof im Haus eines Künstlers. 1982 konnte ein eigenes Haus in der Speyerer Altstadt bezogen werden. Die romantische Lage in der Lauergasse entsprach zwar dem Geschäftszweck, doch fehlte hier der Publikumsverkehr. Deshalb wurde das Haus 1988 verkauft und das Geschäft am Altpörtel, im Herzen von Speyer neu eröffnet. Der Kenner und Liebhaber findet hier Möbel aus dem süddeutschen Raum, vom Barock bis zum Jugendstil. Die edleren, feineren bürgerlichen Möbel haben dem veränderten Kundengeschmack entsprechend die rustikalen Möbel angelöst. Für den heimatkundlich Interessierten hält das Antiquitäten-Geschäft heimische Exponate aller Art, wie z.B. Ansichtskarten, Bücher, Stiche, aber auch Bierkrüge, Fotos und Sammlerstücke aus der Kurpfalz bereit. Am Altpörtel wird nicht nur verkauft sondern auch ein umfassender Service angeboten. Im haus befindet sich eine eigene Werkstatt mit einem umfangreichen Lager an Teilen und Zubehör für die Restauration antiker Möbel. Alte Bilderrahmen werden restauriert, zugeschnitten, das Bild oder Gemälde neu eingefaßt. Die Beratung für die Wohnungseinrichtung wie auch zum Einzelstück, Schätzungen und Auflösung von Nachlässen incl. Der Entsorgung des Hausrates runden das Serviceangebot der Firma Antiquitäten und Antiquariat am Altpörtel ab. Erweiterung 1994 in ein benachbartes Haus in der Gutenbergstraße. "

"Peter Dusch and Alfred Jülich succeeded with the founding of their own company in 1977. In their spare time, the two gentlemen restored antique furniture and offered their goods on flea markets. It finally worked so well that the work could not be done in the free time. This led to the founding of the antique shop and antique store. In the early years the business premises were located in a picturesque backyard in the house of an artist. In 1982, a house in Speyer's Old Town was procured. The romantic location in the Lauergasse corresponded to the business purpose, but the public transport was missing. That is why the house was sold in 1988 and the store at the old grotto opened in the heart of Speyer. The connoisseurs and lovers will find furniture from the southern German area, from Baroque to Art Nouveau. The nobler, finer bourgeois furniture have adapted the rustic furniture to the changing customer taste. For those who are interested in the local history, the antiques business holds local exhibits of all kinds, Postcards, books, engravings, as well as beer jugs, photos and collectors' items from the Kurpfalz. At Altpörtel not only is sold but also offered a comprehensive service. The house has its own workshop with a large stock of parts and accessories for the restoration of antique furniture. Old picture frames are restored, cut to size, the picture or paintings are reworked. The consultancy for the accommodation as well as the individual item, estimates and dissolution of rebates including the disposal of the house council complete the service offered by the company Antiques and Antiquariat at the Altpörtel.
