[FR] La croix de grès était un symbole pour tous les Souchezois. C’était aussi un lieu où les habitants de Souchez aimaient se retrouver. Malheureusement il ne reste que le socle car elle a été détruite pendant la première guerre mondiale. En 2003 on a reconstruit la croix de grès telle qu’elle était en 1270. Venez l’admirer aujourd’hui comme elle l’était autrefois.

L’histoire de la croix de grès :
1270 : Construction d’une croix de grès à Souchez.
1793 : Pendant la Révolution Française, les 2 bras de la croix sont détruits. La croix devient l’arbre de la liberté.
1857 : La croix de grès est restaurée.
1859 : C’est l’inauguration de la nouvelle croix de grès par le comte d’Héricourt (maire de Souchez).
1915 : La croix est détruite pendant les combats de la première guerremondiale.
1924 : On retrouve une plaque portant les inscriptions « Jehan de Marigny 1270 » à l’endroit où la croix de grès avait été construite.
1940 : Pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale, on a pillé la mairie et la plaque est volée.
2001 : La municipalité décide de faire reconstruire une nouvelle croix de grès.
2003 : C’est l’inauguration de la nouvelle croix de grès par M. JeanMarie Alexandre (maire de Souchez).
