Willy Henson's Garage, later the Jet Station. Established in 1920s/1930s selling petrol first from cans then from pumps.
Willy Henson bought the Wheelwright's on this site and established a petrol station. A good location because vehicles had difficulty reaching the top of what was then a very steep hill.

There was a station here from the early 1900's, and fuel was last sold here in the 1980's. The pumps are now gone, but you can still see the old fuel tank guage if you move a bit of ivy. The site is now home to RM Services, motor mechanics.

Looking north towards the garage from the A6 Derby Road, but because of traffic the 'today' image was taken from the southbound side of the road instead of the northbound side of the 'yesterday' image.
Year photo was taken: 1920
