When this school was built a Wesleyan Chapel was also built next door. There two separate chapels in Todmorden at the time, but the size of the congregations fell and the two chapels merged at the Bridge Street Chapel.
At a later date the chapel next door to here was demolished and eventually the school closed and the congregation took over the school and converted it to the current chapel building.
The building has a number of date plaques and foundation stones including one from the previous school.
