"Der 1947 gegründete DRK-Kreisverband Ahrweiler hat 200 hauptamtliche und 700 ehrenamtliche Helfer sowie 13 Jugendgruppen. Hinzu kommen 10.000 Fördermitglieder. Im Jahr 2012 hatte das DRK im AW-Kreis einschließlich der Großveranstaltungen am Nürburgring 28.731 Einsätze. Dabei legten die DRK-Einsatzfahrzeuge 767.327 Kilometer."
